Who is Vikas Purohit, appointed by Meta to head Global Business Group in India?

Vikas Purohit, former CEO of Tata CLiQ, who left the company In December last year, has been appointed by META as its Director of the Global Business Group for India.

In this role, he will lead Charter’s strategy and distribution focused on the country’s leading advertisers and agency partners, Meta said in a statement on Monday, announcing Purohit’s appointment.

The statement quoted Director and Head Arun Srinivas as saying, “I am thrilled to welcome Vikas as he joins our team, which is committed to enabling Meta Platforms businesses, supporting India’s economic growth and can play a role in building the country’s digital advertising ecosystem.” The ads business for Meta in India, as the saying goes.

The former CEO of Tata CLiQ, who will report to Srinivas, will, in turn, report to him from the firm’s key business vertical teams, agency teams and business solutions teams.

Here’s a brief profile:

(1.) He did B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at IIT (BHU) Varanasi from 1996-2000. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) from IIM-B (2000-2002).

(2.) according to LinkedIn ProfilePurohit began his career as a management trainee with the Aditya Birla Group in June 2002, and left in August 2006 as a brand initiatives manager for Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited.

(3.) In September 2006, he joined Tommy Hilfiger as Head of Business Operations in Bengaluru. In March 2008, he moved to Reliance Brands Limited, and served as its Head, Retail, in Mumbai.

(4.) His next destination was Planet Retail, which he joined in July 2010 as its COO, operating out of Mumbai. In June 2012, he relocated to Bengaluru, and worked with Amazon as Director and Head of Amazon Fashion.

(5.) In November 2016, Purohit returned to Mumbai as COO of Tata CLiQ, and was promoted to CEO in June 2018. This was his last profile before joining Meta India.
